To the House of Commons. The Petition of persons resident in the United Kingdom. Declares that they are concerned about the recommendations of the Badman Report, which suggests closer monitoring of home educators, including a compulsory annual registration scheme and right of access to people's homes for local authority officials; further declares that the petitioners believe the recommendations are based on a review that was extremely rushed, failed to give due consideration to the evidence, failed to ensure that the data it collected were sufficiently robust, and failed to take proper account of the existing legislative framework. The Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families either not to bring forward, or to withdraw, proposed legislative measures providing for tighter registration and monitoring of children educated at home in the absence of a thorough independent inquiry into the condition and future of elective home education in England; but instead to take the steps necessary to ensure that the existing Elective Home Education Guidelines for Local Authorities are properly implemented, learning from current best practice, in all local authorities in England. And the Petitioners remain, etc.

I just blinked and saw the counter hit five hundred which feels completely wild considering I was just sitting here drinking cold coffee and feeling frustrated about the report. It is honestly bizarre to think that many people are just as worried as I am about officials walking into our homes. I am going to have to actually figure out how to contact these politicians properly because this is getting serious fast.

I was looking at the dashboard just now and realized we are almost at five hundred signatures which is honestly wild because that really shows how many people are worried about these home education rules. If everyone reading this just grabs one other person who hasn't seen the link yet we could hit that goal before tonight and honestly put some real heat on them.

This report is a total joke. They didnt look at any of the actual evidence before deciding we were all doing it wrong.

The local authorities here cant even manage the school budgets properly so no way do I want them poking around my house.

LEAVE HOME EDUCATION ALONE! We are doing a way better job than the schools anyway.

Ridiculous waste of time and money. Focus on real problems instead of harassing families trying to give their kids a good start.

My home is not a government building. Keep your nose out of how I raise my kids.
